The Singing Bragg Family

|
This international group has been touring for more than twenty-three years through the lower 48s, Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii. The Singing Bragg Family is a totally live band supplying a fresh genre of Gospel Music for the whole family. Some compare their music to the Nashville/Branson sound, but it is unmistakably, The Singing Bragg Family. Their family harmonies are tightly knit. Most important to this group is their purpose. The message is uncompromised and stated in their motto:
BRAGG’N ABOUT JESUS!

James Bragg sings lead and tenor and plays twelve and six string guitar for the group. His whole life has been music. His father, Doug Bragg of Doug Bragg and the Western Drifters, had the number one traveling band in the 1950s. He began learning guitar as a young boy and played in his father’s band for a time. He also had several bands of his own. After being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War, James came to know Christ through reading a Gideon New Testament. Since that time his music has had a message with a purpose to reach others for Jesus. After going to a Christian college, James and his family pastored in Wyoming before he came back to Texas to receive his university training in music. For the last 25 years James and his family have been traveling across the country spreading the good news of Jesus Christ through gospel music.

Barbara Bragg is the main speaker for the group and sings lead and soprano. She and James were childhood sweethearts and were married just before James went to the Vietnam War. Together with James, daughter Cheryl and son Marcus they formed The Singing Bragg Family and began touring across the country singing gospel music. A great Christian comedian, her use of humor carries a very straightforward message. She uses factual stories and life situations to emphasize truths. Her heart truly is to reach the lost for Jesus. |

Marcus Bragg son of James and Barbara Bragg has had a love for music for as long as he can remember. He began learning guitar at age seven and bass at age thirteen. He was only 11 years old when he and his family began touring full-time. Not content to just play bass he learned harmonica and now plays both. He married the love of his life in 1999 and together they continue to travel and minister with the band. His expertise in playing harmonica and bass simultaneously has added a distinctive flare to the group’s music.

Roxanne Bragg joined the band in 1999 when she and Marcus married. She was raised a preacher’s daughter in Colorado and grew up singing in church with her two sisters. She began learning mandolin when she and Marcus became engaged and started playing with the group when she and Marcus married. Later when her sister-in-law Cheryl, who had been the band’s banjo player, left the group to move to California and marry, Roxanne began playing banjo. She also sings alto and is a wonderful asset to the group. Marcus and Roxanne have two children, Curtis and Kaylee, and are excited to be raising them in ministry and teaching them to follow God. |
